I. Incubating grassroots organisations & initiatives

With the support of Caring Friends, Mumbai, the Incubation Programme was initiated in 2013 under the aegis of IDeA - the ant. As Roots to Branches Foundation, we continue to incubate grassroots organisations by providing technical assistance, funding, mentoring, strategy development, and linkages with social sector experts. Our support covers both organisational development and the implementation of projects that reflect the communities’ needs as well as the organisations’ vision and focus areas. This approach strengthens capacity, builds competencies, and fosters sustained regional development. Through the incubation process, organisations progress from launching programmes and building community trust to establishing strong governance, finance, and staffing systems, strengthening policies and strategies, enhancing programme effectiveness and visibility, and ultimately developing leadership, mobilising resources, diversifying funding, and expanding their initiatives.

Testimonials

Our partnership with IDeA- the ant, started with our first donation in 2013. From an initial Fellowship support to program and larger organisational support, IDeA- the ant has handheld and supported the organisation till 2020. They held us as equal partners, a partnership built on trust and understanding and a long and standing partnership that continues to this day. I would like to acknowledge them and thank them for being part of our journey and growth, for nurturing us and for championing the work of Faith Foundation always. I appreciate their support during challenging times and for always being present. I would like to honour and thank them for the important work that they do. Thanks to the IDeA team for seeing the potential in us, and in many of their partners and their communities. You are the hope for the Northeast!nnTo the second family that I have grown to love by the day.nWith all my Prayersn

ESPT was registered as a charitable trust in 2017. In the initial days, as an organisation we lacked clarity on various aspects of effective NGO management practices. After receiving the incubation project grant from IDeA- the ant in 2018, we underwent comprehensive training on NGO management, accounts and financial management, governance and legal compliance, and various thematic training. With the invaluable support and guidance from the IDeA team through various workshops, training, and field visits, we have been able to successfully establish a robust system for our organisation. With the help of IDeA, we have been able to sustain our work with Children through funding from different funding organizations after graduating from the IDeA Incubation program.nnWe extend our heartfelt gratitude to IDeA for empowering us to better serve our society.n

In a special balance that spans the extents of the warmth of non-linear human depth with linear points of systematic and formal organizational and program development, IDeA's incubation program is an exceptional incubation program for start-up/young grassroots organizations.nFor KKT, in the latter sense, the program helped us to literally start building our organization and livelihood programs in a systematic way. From a founder-centric/boot-strapped model we were not only able to recruit our initial team due to the support but also build their technical capacity through learning from IDeA trainings. In the former sense, we were able to churn out deeply with the leaders of IDeA, through deep participatory processes that engaged our young staff and members of our community, matters of vision, values, and strategy, and which has led to significant maturity of our staff and organization.n
